G2 out with friends, along with big Quinte Walleye

August 28th, 2010

Out with great G2 friends, Corey Melilli and Johnny Adenza for a fun day on the water.

Well the Walleye (and Largemouth) certainly did cooperate today, and as has happened so many times this summer, the big fish were out in the big water. The deepwater crankbait bite is STILL our main focus, with a significant number of go to spots that have schools of weedline walleye on them. We hit a number of big fish today, with only a few smaller walleye. We hit a few fish from 7am to 10am, however the main bite started around 10am and went until 3pm.

The fun part today was Corey, Johhny and I had some fun competitive action going on with side bets for the most fish caught….(BTW – Johnny and I tied, with Corey off by 1 Walleye).

An interesting note: The wind picked up quite heavily in the afternoon, without the incredible Minn Kota iPilot (From Radioworld) and it’s ability to Spot Lock, we would not have been able to stay on the fish the way we did.

Here are a few pics…. Enjoy.

Cheers, G2Angling…

Pretty good day for big summer Walleye

August 21st, 2010

Great day on the water with Chris McDonald an his father-in-law Hugh from Thunder Bay…. Clearly walleye (Pickerel to the Northerners) grow much bigger down here in the Bay, because Hugh was really impressed with the size of fish, I guess size does matter…

We specifically targeted bigger walleye, so our focus was much deeper weedlines adjacent to really deep water…. It took a while to locate these fish, but when we did… it was great action! Our summer crank-bait pattern is still what’s taking these fish.

The crank-bait bite will only last for another month, so give us a call if you want to learn the fundamentals of this pattern and have a great time catching big walleye.

Enjoy the pics…

Cheers, G2Angling…

Fun and educational day on the water

August 14th, 2010

Out with a great team today, Don & Paul….staying on the bay for the remainder of the week.

As many clients do, they decided to use our services to provide the right knowledge and learn the fundamentals to make the balance of there trip more enjoyable. Well, the weather didn’t cooperate, with southeast winds blowing a 35km+, making it a tough day on the water…thank god for the Minn Kota Ipilot from Radioworld or staying on our spots would have been impossible.

The best part about today was, even though the fishing was not fantastic, we shared enough information for Don & Paul to utilize what they learned and apply it to the remainder of their week and any future trips that may bring them to the bay….

Have fun out there gents…. BTW, here’s a beauty that Paul caught before the winds came up….

Great day on Quinte….Walleye, Walleye, Walleye

August 1st, 2010

Great day on the water with father & son team Bob & Dave Gauthier….

The day started off with only one walleye and Largemouth by 10:00am…. But that is pretty typical for the summer bite….then WAMMO!! They tunred ON!! Walleye after Walleye after Walleye….they were on fire. Crankbaits were the order of the day (Our trusted pattern) and I’m telling you, when those walleye hit a crankbait, you better hold on…. they hit like a freight train!!

Off the water by 3:00pm, with more walleye then we could count…. Wow is this fishery AMAZING or what?

BTW – If you want a taste of the action, give us a call….

Enjoy the pics,

Cheers, G2Angling….

Summer Walleye bite still “HOT” on Quinte

July 28th, 2010

The walleye bite on Quinte is still really good!!

Out this week with a group from Pittsburgh, PA, they caught countless numbers of walleye and largemouth, ranging from 2lbs to 5lbs…with a few good fishing being lost at the boat in the 8 to 10lb range.

For those who believe that the hot weather is making the walleye fishing tough are SO wrong. The hot weather is really moving the eyes into the weeds from the deeper water… they’re actually stacking up and feeding right where we fish.

Most fish are being caught on our typical crankbait pattern, in multiple colors and crankbait styles.

We’ll still be out as the bite continues, if you want to get in on the action, give us a call.

Meanwhile, enjoy the pics.

Cheers, G2Angling…

Summer walleye on Quinte….Simply Amazing!!

July 24th, 2010

The walleye fishing on Quinte has been extremely good this past week. We have been fishing for a few days in a row now and we have made a significant number of happy clients. Walleye from 2lbs to 7lbs are the range of the majority of fish, with a number of good sized Largemouth thrown in.

Our cranking pattern has not changed, however we continue to talk to anglers at boat ramps and marinas who are coming out empty handed…. We share as much information as we can, however it’s just not the same as working with an angler for the entire day and really helping them dial it in… Grant and I have had a significant number of anglers who frequent the Bay often, and after coming out with us they are now doing very well with the same pattern that has been successful for us.

Whether you’re and seasoned angler, or a novice just looking for a day of walleye and fun, give us a call…we would be privileged to spend the day with you.

Enjoy the pics…

Great day on the water….

July 2nd, 2010

We have been on the water so much, no time to post pictures.

We were out with a great father and son team today, Domenic and his son Q. The fishing was really great; we landed over 30 walleye and multiple pike and amazing Largemouth.

Unfortunately we’ll be on vacation for a week at a resort in Northern Ontario, Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge….

We’ll be back out on the water as of July 15th, so give us a call to book a trip. Here are a few pics from today.

Walleye continue to be on fire…

June 8th, 2010

The walleye on the Bay continue to be on fire…. We are hitting solid numbers of walleye with the odd 7 to 8lber coming in every trip. We recently had a group visit us from Ottawa, Francois and the gang, including his Dad, celebrating his 60th Birthday!! Happy Birthday Pops…

The guys landed numerous Walleye (Including incidental Largemouth Bass, which are HARD to stay away from) and had an amazing time, in addition to learning the ART of getting the toughest fish in Ontario to hit.

We’ll be out this week and all weekend, give us a call, you’ll be glad you did.

Enjoy the pics…

Walleye in full swing on the Quinte

June 1st, 2010

Over the last week we have been out with clients and pre-fishing for a recent Walleye tournament.

Clients have been extremely happy, boating many Walleye during our trips. With the warmer weather, Walleye have been on their summer patterns for over3 weeks now, making it extremely easy to hit 20 to 30 walleye a day…our best day we boated 50+ walleye with the bigger fish topping 9 & 10 lbs. We are targeting deep weedlines with crankbaits and jigs, these weedlines hold big numbers of walleye. However, the Bay of Quinte is a BIG body of water, locating these walleye could be like looking for a needle in a haystack. With G2, we take the guess work away and teach you how to find them and get them in the boat.

As summer is the most comfortable month to get out on the water (especially for the kids) we are filling up quickly. With kids being out of school at the end of June, we’re starting to book a considerable number of summer trips. Give us a call soon, we wouldn’t want you to miss out.

Enjoy the pics…

2010 Quinte Bassmasters Walleye Open CHAMPIONS!!

May 18th, 2010

We (The G2Angling team) are the 2010 Quinte Bassmasters Walleye Open CHAMPIONS!! What a great way to start the season!!!

It was a tough field in this tournament out on the Bay of Quinte, with some pretty amazing teams. Our G2Angling team Grant, Jamie and I focused on a 3 fish limit… Walleye in the spring certainly are not as big as they are in the fall or through the ice, so even trying to break the 10lb mark with 3 fish is a difficult task, especially on a day that has NO wind, No cloud and highs of +20c.

With a well laid out strategy and multiple “Go To” options, in addition to the help of Northland Crawler Harnesses and Reef Runner Little Rippers, we managed to hit 18.47lbs for our 3 fish. In addition to that, we also managed to hit the big fish of the tournament weighing in at 7.89lbs. We had a lot of fun out there and met some great anglers… some who did ok and some who didn’t…but that’s fishing.

A special note and thanks to the Quinte Basmasters, as this event was a fundraiser for the Frank Centre Outdoor Education Centre, and they were able to raise $1,000!!!! Great Job…. Also, thanks to Ashley Rae for taking some great pics.

Now that the tournament is over, we are back to getting clients out on the water and teaching them how to get into the same sort of action, just give us a call and we’ll arrange all the details for you…

Cheers, Gary Hodge (Hodgey)
